A decade ago, we penned our first line of code, hoping one day it would allow us to build something monumental, something that would touch millions of minds and inspire them to create solutions to the buzzing problems we come across in daily life, to automate their systems, and to scale their products to hit the market differently. Now, looking back, we are left amazed at what we accomplished in the last ten years.

What started as one man’s pursuit of creating and developing online products that addressed real-world issues eventually turned into the dream for a technology firm that functions on several platforms. It all began with a long and dedicated search for the right team and the right approach to pull off the vision; however, somewhere along the way, the single man’s pursuit soon turned into a full-on collective mission. Designers with distinctive creative talents were hired, developers with an appetite for innovation were onboarded, strategists with narrative skills were discovered, and marketers with the ability to cut through the noise were on board to embark on the journey to bring to life something amazing.

United by a shared belief and enthusiasm in scaling bold ideas and in giving a new meaning to innovation, the foundation of a digital product company was laid. With the trust of our very first client, that vision transformed into a venture, and Weft was born.

The word weft is connected to weaving. It can be loosely translated as horizontal threads that run across the vertical warp threads on a loom. It’s the element that gives fabric its structure, strength, and design. Without the weft, there is no whole. The same holds for us, and that’s how the name Weft came into the scene.

In nature, Weft is a digital product hub—a place where design, development, and digital marketing are skillfully woven together. Like fabric, what we create is crafted to be functional, aesthetic, and enduring.

In spirit, Weft stands for connection. We tirelessly build bridges between people, ideas, and technology to form a whole in an attempt to join creativity with code, logic with empathy, and ambition with purpose under one big umbrella.

The Origin Story: What led to the birth of Weft in 2015?

Our story pulled its way out into the picture in 2015, in the UAE, with a bold vision to build digital products that turn heads in the market. So we went ahead to create a space where ideas could roam freely, take their time, and slowly evolve into powerful products that can solve real-life challenges and challenge innovation. 

By 2018, we paused a moment to dig deeper roots in India. Joining the ecosystem of a thriving and rapidly expanding startup community at Smartcity, Kochi, we dove into collaborations, created communities, and fostered a company culture based on collaboration, curiosity, and creativity, all of course, with solid support and encouragement from our beloved colleagues. This chapter is where we forged our identity, not only as creators of tech but as believers in people.

In 2022, we expanded our reach further, landing in Canada. Rather than just adding another office and clients to our list, we expanded our horizon, stepping into new business fields, exploring new industries, and experimenting with our approach in each.

Thus, we were able to launch projects that redefined how brands communicated, scaled, and created a digital presence that cannot be easily dismissed.

Today, Weft is a global entity, with teams, clients, and collaborations spread across nations and continents. But even as we raft over each milestone and marker, one aspect has not wavered: our values, which have constructed us and which have brought us this far.

The 10-Year Celebration: A Night to Remember

After a decade-long attempt at building, believing, and becoming, we finally hit a milestone worth pausing for. And naturally we celebrated it the Weft way—with a heart full of thanks, with a spirit that shall never retreat. 

In the middle of the picaresque setting of the Whispering Waters Resort, which lay deep in the recesses of some foggy evening at the fringes of the city, the atmosphere had already been established even before we set out on our quest. With nature itself as the peaceful background and the river flowing serenely by, it just seemed like a miracle in exile. However, us being us, we broke the day with a fun pool party, where people laughed more boisterously than the music, and water battles became moments of bonding. It was our way of letting loose before the spotlight moments began.

As the sun dipped behind the trees, we lit the traditional vilakku—a symbolic gesture that marked a decade of shared mission. From the very first light on, the evening proceeded with emotion, surprise, and much celebration. We began the evening programs with a special presentation of Weft’s 10-year journey, wherein we discussed everything from our first line of code in 2015 to global initiatives that reshaped industries. The presentation guided us through the turning points, the risks we gambled, and the transformation we championed.

Next came our award show—a moment to pause and appreciate the faces behind the magic. The applause, the grins, the tearful orations—each reminding why Weft is not just a business—it’s a family. Then came the evening’s highlight, the cultural programs. The singing, the dancing, and the drama all felt surreal. People who usually speak code were suddenly dancing like pros. Teams that solve complex digital problems by day were on stage, singing their hearts out. And the DJ party was the cherry on top. However, no party shall ever be complete without a delicious dinner. And so we finished ours with a sumptuous dinner and walked back to our rooms with full hearts, filled tummies, and corner conversation that lasted throughout the night.

The Road Ahead: Weft’s Vision for the Next Decade

Entering our second decade, we’ve never been more certain about where we’re headed.

  • Our focus is building a foundation: We’re making bets on systems and internal structures that can scale for the long term, not at the expense of our people, but to serve them.
  • We’re also refining our ownership culture: Every team member is challenged to think past the to-do list. We encourage them to initiate things, start conversations, and make their work a part of themselves with a co-founder mentality.
  • Our growth plan is deliberate: We’re not growing merely for the sake of growth. We’re picking carefully which markets to enter, what projects to work on, and what partners to work with.
